Tuesday 03 July 2018

The Land Development Corporation (LDC) and Ostojic Group are pleased to announce that BP Australia will build and operate a new Truck Stop facility at Darwin’s Truck Central development on the Corner of Wishart Road and Tiger Brennan Drive.

The Ostojic Group is delivering the $25 million Truck Central development in partnership with LDC. As part of the development, Ostojic Group have finalised a land sale contract with BP for a Truck Stop Facility near the entrance to the estate. The Truck Stop is an essential part of the Truck Central development by providing fuel and driver rest and fatigue management amenities. The Truck Stop complements the 3.2 hectare Road Train Assembly Area and Heavy Vehicle Inspection Facility which are being jointly funded by the Australian Government, Northern Territory Government and LDC. In addition, there are 22 industrial lots available for sale and development which are expected to attract transport and general industry businesses including regional distribution centres, truck sales, transport depots and will be supported by a range of vehicle maintenance activities such as inspection centres, tyre, mechanical and body repairs.

The new BP Truck Stop will offer top-of-the-line facilities such as:

  • access for multiple vehicles, from small vehicles to large triple road trains;
  • high-flow diesel pumps;
  • healthy, fresh-cooked meals;
  • truck drivers’ lounge; and
  • shower facilities.

Construction of the new Truck Stop will commence in July 2018 and will create approximately 100 jobs during the construction phase.

Truck Central is the first stage of the 70 hectare Industrial Precinct situated at the cross roads of the region’s major heavy vehicle transport routes being Tiger Brennan Drive, Berrimah Road and Wishart Road. The estate is set to become the key transport hub for the Top End.

The LDC’s CEO Tony Stubbin is pleased to welcome BP Australia to the development “The announcement of BP’s Truck Stop at Truck Central complements the Road Train Assembly Area and the Heavy Vehicle Inspection Area and makes Truck Central another step closer to becoming the one stop transport hub for the Top End. Both Ostojic and LDC are receiving interest from businesses keen to establish a presence at Truck Central.”
