Land Development Corporation representatives travelled to Wurrumiyanga (Bathurst Island) last month to meet with the Tiwi Land Council to provide an update on the Tiwi Development Framework Agreement.
The Land Development Corporation continues to promote the Tiwi Islands as an investment opportunity for Tourism, Agriculture and Aquaculture related industries to drive economic development on the Islands.
Whilst visiting, the team also took a look at the new Solar PV system recently installed at Wurrumiyanga by Power and Water Corporation under their Solar SETuP program. This new solar setup allows power from the solar panels to feed back into the local grid saving around 15% in diesel generator fuel usage.
The Wurrumiyanga solar facility has been developed on the first lease agreed under the Tiwi Development Framework Agreement.
