A new Primary School in the suburb of Zuccoli will start construction before the end of 2018 with local contractor Halikos Pty Ltd awarded a $12.6 million tender to design and construct stage one of the new government school. The construction phase of the project will support 120 local jobs.
The new school with include a pre-school for up to 88 students, as well as eight primary school classrooms with capacity for more than 200 students. The new school will adjoin the existing Mother Teresa Catholic School.
In July, the Territory Government brought forward the construction of the new primary school by two years to ease classroom pressure in the Territory’s fastest growing region.
The Land Development Corporation supports the construction of the new Primary School with CEO, Tony Stubbin stating “Zuccoli is the Northern Territory’s fastest growing suburb with a need for the school, to support students and families within Zuccoli and surrounding areas”.
The school will benefit the growing community, improving local infrastructure and services and allowing children to begin their education closer to home.
