Palmo South suburbs still our fastest rising.
PALMERSTON South has retained its title of the Territory’s fastest growing suburb, with parks and conservation spaces in the area continuing to act as a major drawcard for many homebuyers.
According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Palmerston South – which includes the new suburb of Zuccoli – has had both the largest and fastest suburb growth in the NT in 2016/2017, followed by Lyons and Darwin City.
Throughout the nation, Darwin experienced some of the weakest rates of population growth over the past year with just a one per cent or less increase – compared to Melbourne’s fastest growth rate in the nation of 2.7 per cent in the past year.
Urbex’s Zuccoli Development falls within the southern part of Palmerston, and with hundreds of lots in the multi-stage development, is a key driver of growth in the area. Aside from the community spirit, the fact that Zuccoli has dedicated over 30 per cent of the development to conservation areas continues to attract homebuyers.
Zuccoli sales centre consultant Nicole Turner said the team received lots of positive feedback on Zuccoli’s parks conservation areas. “From a sustainable perspective, we are seeing buyers motivated by Zuccoli’s conservation efforts,” she said. “Buyers are keen to purchase properties that back on to green open spaces, allowing their home to integrate nicely into the surrounding environment. We put a lot of time and effort into our landscape maintenance and green areas at Zuccoli, and this really shines through for potential buyers and residents.
“We regularly have people comment on how noticeably green and well-kept our parks, gardens and verges are, and it’s great to see how appreciated and valued this is by the community.”
Among the many Territorians who have moved to Palmerston South are Scott and Jess McLean, and their son Archer. The young family bought a house in Zuccoli around 18 months ago and like many others, were attracted to the area for its wide open green spaces and commitment to sustainability. “It’s great being so close to the parks with our little one – there’s one currently being finished off near our house and another one already completed around 400m down the road,” Mr McLean said. “The area is obviously really popular because every time we go for a drive around Zuccoli, we notice new houses going up.”
