The Northern Territory Government, in partnership with the Australian Government, Land Development Corporation and Ostojic Group has officially opened the Territory’s $52m Truck Central development – the premier hub in the Top End for truckies.
Truck Central is a master planned industrial estate located at the cross-roads of the region’s major heavy vehicle transport routes of Tiger Brennan Drive and Wishart Road. The estate includes three integrated transport facilities being the Road Train Assembly Area (RTAA), BP Truck Stop and a Heavy Vehicle Inspection Facility. The RTAA, BP Truck Stop and Truck Central estate are now open for business.
The RTAA is a 3 hectare concrete hardstand area with line marking for 55 large vehicle parking bays, accommodating road trains, B-Doubles and semi-trailers, and includes a concrete loading ramp. This is an essential asset for drivers to meet their fatigue management requirements by providing a safe environment for the short term parking and reconfiguration of heavy loads.
Once rested, truck drivers are well catered for through the new BP Truck Stop and fuel station, providing modern and clean driver rest amenities including a ‘truckers lounge’, shower facilities and dining area.
Working in partnership with Ostojic Group, the Land Development Corporation has delivered the 16 hectare, 25 lot industrial subdivision with a vision to develop Truck Central into a hallmark industrial precinct.
The next component to establishing Truck Central as a one stop hub is well underway with construction of the new Heavy Vehicle Inspection Facility scheduled for completed during Q3 2019. This will be the only inspection facility in Australia and possibly the world that can accommodate fully configured triple road trains, making inspections more efficient and improving productivity.
