Paws Protecting Darwin

Paws Protecting Darwin

Some of our four - legged friends strapped on their uniforms last month to assist the Northern Territory Government in eradicating an exotic pest - the browsing ant.

Browsing ants pose a significant threat to the $500 million agricultural sector and the results have been positive since the introduction of the dogs.

These ants were first discovered in the Territory in 2015 and have since required the assistance of sniffer dogs to detect their location, sniffing out a single ant from up to seven metres away.

The dogs have conducted tests throughout the Territory, including the East Arm area and have found no detection of browsing ants.
