Uplifting News for Ship Lift

Uplifting News for Ship Lift

On the 21st of September the Northern Territory Government signed a Project Development Agreement (PDA) with the Paspaley Group to deliver a Ship Lift Faciity to the East Arm area.

The new Ship Lift will allow for marine servicing and maintenance of private, commercial and Defence vessels and will also include a hardstand area.

The Ship Lift will have the capacity to lift vessels more than 90 metres in length, including the new fleet of offshore patrol vessels being procured by the Australian Defence Force.

The NT Government has allocated $10 million to the project with $100 million worth of funding committed over the next four years towards building the Ship Lift.

Funding was also provided in Budget 2017 for the Marine Service Area to facilitate the growth of marine industry in Darwin, with construction of the proposed Ship Lift an important piece of infrastructure.

It is estimated that over 100 new jobs will be created during the construction of the Ship Lift.
